Streaming Obits: Titles Leaving Netflix/Hulu in December
If you wisely decided to stay home and watch The Irishman on Black Friday, or possibly the next episode of The Mandalorian, I would call you a smarter bear than most. But after those new arrivals are done with, don't sleep on these streaming staples that are flying out the door, some as early as (eep!) today.
While more Disney and Fox properties disappear from Netflix--including Thor: Ragnarok, Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, and that hallowed classic George of the Jungle 2--keep in mind that we're also losing The Dark Crystal, which is not necessarily required viewing before jumping into Netflix's original Age of Resistance series, but it would be nice to have the option. The low-key gigantic losses for the big red N are rewatch/background noise classics like Frasier and Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.
Hulu, meanwhile, seems content to excise the entire decade of the 1990s from their platform. Chiefly, early 1990s sci-fi action nonsense. The best kind! Set aside an afternoon with your dad and watch Demolition Man, Universal Soldier, and Total Recall. Feel free to swap out Event Horizon with something less traumatic, like a Get Shorty or Days of Thunder. Something equally unique in their '90s excess.
